On a fine Saturday morning, 200+ people gathered at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre to celebrate fitness culture. Usually people laze around during weekends but it was a welcome change to see people from all walks of life be it old or young participating in the run with all the zeal and might.
The 5 km race was conducted by Jagan Fitness and Running Group and was successfully timed by IQ301 Sports Technology. There were 5 categories based on the age group for men and women runners, these were:
- Below 15 years
- 15 to 35 years
- 35 to 45 years
- 45 to 55 years
- 55+ years
There was anticipation in the air as the bicycle marshals took positions ahead of all the runners and upon a countdown to 10 the race was started. And the runners who were leading the pack went like a bullet from a gun.
All preparation was done and stage was set, by 6 am as runners started to pour in. Before the run, as the sun was rising a Zumba session was conducted where the runners stretched their legs and warmed up for the run. The route was fairly simple and fast paced. Runners had to run 2 loops of 2.5 km each to complete the race. IQ301’s mats were strategically placed along the route to make sure that runners were completing the run and to record their time accurately.

Everyone was running for a different cause, some were running for the first position in their respective category, some were looking out to set their personal best time, some were running just to prove themselves that they are fit even after their retirement, some were running with family and friends where as some runners who were as young as 8-10 years old were probably running their first competitive race. You can say that positive energy from all the runners was emanating and resonating which made the entire running experience surreal.
Everyone finished the race and had a big smile on their face irrespective of the time taken by them to finish the race, light refreshment in the form of water and banana were provided at the end point, also delicious South Indian breakfast was served hot and fresh at the venue for the runners who developed an appetite after the run.
